Missionary of the Week: Esaie and Natacha Etienne, Living Stone Reformed Ministry – Haiti

November 15, 2021

Esaie, a member of the Southwest Florida Presbytery, is an ordained minister in the PCA. He and Natacha have been laboring in the area of church planting since 1993, planting churches in South and Central Florida, as well as in Esaie’s homeland, Haiti. In Haiti, their ministry is comprised of church planting, leadership training, and mercy ministry, which includes a school for children, a medical mission, and a children’s home. Please pray for Esaie and Natacha’s work in Haiti to be fruitful in the midst of all the current turmoil and obstacles they’re facing (Prime Minister’s assassination, abject corruption in government, prevalence of occult practices, kidnapping of missionaries and other helpers, and harsh living conditions). Pray that the gospel will change hearts and minds as our Lord draws his elect to himself.

Missions Focus of the Week: Sonbeams

November 1, 2021

Sonbeams is the special needs ministry at Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church. Their vision is to see God glorified through the integration of children and adults with differing abilities into the life and mission of the church. Please pray for God’s blessing on their upcoming (11/5) “Sonbeams Night Out” event (SNO). Pray that the event will be filled with our own special needs members, and our special needs neighbors. Pray that their caregivers will experience a great time of respite and that the participants would experientially come to know and grow in Christ, both through the hearing of God’s word, and the welcoming love of the SNO volunteers. Pray that God would effectually call many more special needs families and individuals to be a part of our POPC family.

Missionary of the Week: Ms. V (International Xchange Organization)

Ms. V works for International Xchange Organization as a Cultural Exchange Specialist. Western college-aged students and professionals teach conversational English on Chinese university campuses. These ten-day projects and extended stay internships prioritize building relationships with students and faculty in the classroom, and on field trips. Pray that God would continue to provide Ms. V with the resources she needs to accomplish her evangelistic goals in an environment that has been officially designated (by Voice of the Martyrs Ministry) as restricted from the Christian faith. Pray that God would protect and sustain her on a daily basis.

Roger is also the founder and Director of Community Arts Tokyo, an organization connecting people to each other, the church, and God through the arts. They have four sons; Aidan, Eastin, Coen, and Kaizen. Pray that Lowthers would be sustained in their areas of expertise, and that others would be drawn to the message of the gospel through the giftings the Lord has blessed them with. Missions Focus of the Week: Mission First

October 4, 2021

Mission First was started in 1999 as a ministry of First Baptist Jackson. Seeing the extreme need for the transformation of a community through the power of Jesus, the blighted Rosedown Apartments were turned into a community center housing a medical and dental clinic, a legal aid office, an educational facility, and a gym. Mission First is asking us to pray that God, in his timing, would provide them with a van, and bus drivers to transport the kids they serve. Regarding their elementary and Peyton House girls, and their guys’ middle school programs, pray that doors would be opened for more students to attend these after school programs.

September 27, 2021

American Heritage Girls is the premier national character development organization for young women that embraces Christian values and encourages family involvement. AHG seeks to build women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country. Our AHG POPC Troop is asking that we pray for an influx of needed adult volunteers, pray that they would be able to maximize the times of opportunity they have to present the gospel to the girls, and pray for the girls to grow in their faith. The Gulletts ministered alongside a local church with university students in Italy for five and a half years. They then came to Mississippi for a brief period of time so that Foster could pursue his Masters of Divinity degree at RTS Jackson. They recently moved back to Milan and are now actively involved in a church plant in that city. Foster is asking that we pray that they will find an apartment that is suitable to hold church gatherings during the early stages of their church plant. He also asked that we pray that they will adjust well; this includes settling into a new city and finding avenues to forge new relationships.
