Missions Monday: Mid-South Church Planting Network

Mid South.jpg

The Mid-South Church Planting Network is a group of PCA churches in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and west Tennessee that have come together to see new churches started for the glory of the God. Their desire is to see churches planted that are enamored with King Jesus in all they say and do. They believe that church planting is the most effective way to reach those who do not know the hope and promise of the Gospel. They know there are key areas throughout the Mid-South where PCA churches are needed. They also want see mutli-ethnic and African-America churches birthed, which simply reflects the beauty that is the throne room of Heaven.

Let's pray for the Mid-South Church Planting Network!

Coats for Mission First/Neighborhood Christian Center

coats copy.png

Pear Orchard has supported Mission First (and Neighborhood Christian Center) in downtown Jackson for the past several years. One of the ways we have supported them is by helping with their Christmas store each December. Mission First/Neighborhood Christian Center sponsors a Christmas store for the children who attend their after-school program. Many of the parents are unable to provide essentials for their children, so they are given the opportunity to shop (for a small fee) for their child. Each child is provided with a new school uniform, book bag, devotional, some toys and essentials such as underwear, socks, pajamas, and coats.

This year we will be providing coats for the students. If you would like to help please click here to sign up to donate coats. Please note: in the past, we have donated fleeces, but they are wanting winter coats this year. If you would like to give money toward the coats, make checks made out to Ginny Futvoye with Mission First Coats in the memo. Turn checks or cash into Tammie Haynes mailbox only the church office by December 8th. Or Venmo Ginny at @ginnyfutvoye. Thank you very much!

Please keep this ministry in your prayers!

VBS Mission Project

Each year during VBS week, we collect money for local and foreign mission that our church supports. This year, we invite YOU to join us in our mission! We are collecting money for Joni and Friends to see how many wheelchairs we can buy to send to India. Each wheelchair costs $250. Our goal is 10 wheelchairs! You can help us with this by giving during church or at the church office and specifying your offering for "VBS missions." Thank you!

General Assembly

Please be in prayer for the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America, meeting in Dallas this week. Teaching Elders Caleb Cangelosi and Dean Williams, and Ruling Elder Tom Young, are representing Pear Orchard as commissioners. John and Martie Kwasny and Rod and Jeanne Russ will be at the Assembly with One Story Ministries. Pray that the Lord will continue to grant truth, unity, and a heart for the lost to our church. If interested, you can follow the Assembly live by clicking here.

Staff Spotlight: Dean Williams

Get to know Dean Williams, our associate pastor!

Where you grew up: I grew up in St. Croix, U. S. Virgin Islands, spent summers in New York.

Hobbies:  Basketball, Reading, Bowling, playing games.

Fun fact:  I was on my school’s bowling team; both in high school and in college; I’ve bowled a 299 game, 290 twice, 289 twice, 279 about 20 times, but never a perfect game (300).

Family:  My wife’s name is listed on our college Alma Mater’s Women’s Basketball “Wall of Fame”.  She’s also listed as a Women’s Basketball Pioneer on the website “luckyshow.org” (formerly “PioneeringWomeninBasketball.org) for scoring 105 in two games (55, 50).

Our daughter held all of her middle and high school’s track and field sprint records; she also held all the school’s basketball scoring records.

Our son, currently the Search and Rescue Officer on board a United States Naval ship, won a Middle School State Track and Field Championship in the 400 Meter race, won a Regional Championship in High School, and finished third that year in the State Championship race.

Anything else: Being at Pear Orchard has been one of the greatest blessings I’ve ever experienced.
